Castillo de Chapultepec
In Mexico City there are many tourist attractions, perfect for spending a vacation getting to know the most representative places of the city. We recommend that, if you like history and learning as much as possible about the places you visit, you head to the Chapultepec Castle Museum, it will not disappoint you.
History of Chapultepec Castle
The origins of this important Chapultepec Museum date back to no less than the year 1825. Since then it has changed a lot, as at that time, the museum was divided into four parts, consisting of the natural history area, antiquities, history, and art. Since 1944 it has had the same form and structure that we know today.
The works you will find inside the museum are of great importance, such as the murals that tell part of the history, culture, or legends of the country, which are and continue to be vital to understanding Mexican origins.
The objects exhibited in the history rooms are also impressive, such as paintings, monuments, statues, or key utensils that have been preserved, in many cases, in perfect condition.
And if that weren’t enough, the halls of the alcazar are impressive representations of life in the past, which in many cases remain intact to relive the past history. Among them are the dining room, the hall of governments, and the tea room.
Chapultepec Castle, price
The general admission price is 85 pesos, but children under 13, people over 60, teachers and students, or people with disabilities can enter the premises for free. Tickets can only be purchased, for the moment, in person at the ticket office.
You can also access the museum for free on Sundays, although it is only available for Mexican citizens or foreigners residing in the country with valid accreditation.
Chapultepec Castle, schedule
The schedule to visit this majestic museum is from Tuesday to Sunday, as it is closed on Mondays, from 9:00 in the morning to 17:00 in the afternoon. It is estimated that the duration to optimally observe all parts of it is an hour and a half.
It is recommended to arrive early if you are going in the afternoon, as the museum usually evacuates visitors 15 minutes before closing. The location of the Chapultepec Museum is Primera Sección del Bosque de Chapultepec S/N San Miguel Chapultepec, Delegación Miguel Hidalgo in Mexico City.
In fact, it is part of the incredible Chapultepec forest, one of the most beautiful in the country. In addition to the museum, you can take pleasant walks while contemplating the dense vegetation, as well as viewing the artificial lake.
To get to the Museum you can go in your own vehicle, but keep in mind that there is no parking on site, so you will have to park far away. If you prefer, you can also reach the museum by public transportation, such as the metro. The nearest stations are Chapultepec or Auditorio.
