Visita Zihuatanejo
Take a getaway weekend to visit the pleasant town of Zihutanejo, a popular destination for its beautiful beaches and water activities.
Breve historia de Zihuatanejo
It is part, along with Ixtapa, Acapulco and Taxco, of the well-known Triángulo del Sol. It is located on the coasts of the State of Guerrero and the Golden Pacific. Its name comes from the Nahuatl language and means ”place of women” (not to be confused with another famous destination, Isla Mujeres, the island of the goddess Ixchel).
Zihuatanejo is a small town adjacent to Ixtapa, six kilometers from each other. Today it still maintains the relaxed and pleasant mentality of having been a fishing village. This tourist destination offers a variety of sport fishing and diving activities, as well as a variety of water sports.
Zihuatanejo’s city beaches
- Main beach
- Las Gatas Beach
- La Madera Beach
- La Ropa Beach
- Long Beach
- Playa Blanca
The main beach or port beach is located in the center of the city, and is approximately 400 meters long. Here you will find the pier, which will take you to another popular beach: Las Gatas beach.
Las Gatas is not as long as the main one, but being away from the hustle and bustle of the city it is also highly recommended for those who want a little more privacy. It is common to see bathers snorkeling and scuba diving.
Wooden beach is smaller, 300 meters long, very comfortable for families with small children due to its calm waves. There are restaurants where you can buy food and beverages, as well as to get to know the local gastronomy. Its name is due to the fact that this was an old point for collecting different types of wood in colonial times.
Unlike the previous ones, the beach of La ropa is 1 kilometer long and is the longest in the bay of the city. You can practice different water sports and thanks to its equipment rental stores, you can rent whatever you need without any problems. You will also find restaurants where you can buy a variety of snacks.
Playa larga is located in the south of Zihuatanejo and is one of the longest beaches you can visit and is more than 3 kilometers long. Also in the southern area is Playa Blanca, named for the characteristic color of its sand.
The airport in Zihuatanejo
Throughout the year, Zihuatanejo’s international airport receives tourists from different parts of Mexico and other countries. You can reserve cars, chauffeur service, park your vehicle, exchange currency and much more. It has the great advantage of having a connection with another popular destination: Cancun.
If you like vacations to relax, sunbathe in turquoise beaches and try the best restaurants, we recommend you to stay at Oasis all-inclusive hotels in Cancun.
These resorts have exclusive services whether you are traveling as a couple or as a family. The great ally to entertain your children will be the Kiddo Zone of the Grand Oasis Palm hotel, an area where the little ones will have the best time. Here they will be cared for by the best professionals and will have access to the best children’s activities.
