Prepare now for a tourist vacation in which you will discover natural landscapes never seen before, a natural reserve with a lot of water activities and in short, a perfect paradise to disconnect from daily life: Ceslestun.

Celestun, Yucatan

This magnificent place in the state of Yucatan is one of the most magical destinations you can visit to disconnect from all your worries. Since 2000 it has been considered a World Heritage Biosphere Reserve and since 1979 it has also been a wildlife refuge.

In the past it was a fishing village, but now it is known for its natural wealth, ecotourism and much more. It was not until the end of the 20th century that this place became a tourist reference in Mexico. There are plenty of activities to do, such as boat trips, kayaking or tasting the delicious local gastronomy.

There are also excursions that allow you to see the flamingos up close, another of Celestún’s great attractions, since they inhabit the territory all year round. What’s more, these types of activities will also allow you to get close to forests, mangroves and dive in cenotes, as they are very complete plans.

Another must-see during your stay in Celestún is Jaltún Park. There are several tours and hiking trails to get to know its interior. There are both animal and plant species and it is ideal to take your children to spend a nice time with your family.

Although we recommend you to continue investigating all the hidden secrets of Celestún, such as the town center or its church, if you have the possibility to move around in a private car, go visit El Palmar. This nature reserve is 30 kilometers from Celestún and is well worth discovering. There are turtle species, paradisiacal beaches and much more.

Celestun beach

If you like to relax, sunbathe or just hang out on the beach, Celestun’s beach is known for being very quiet. Those who love the beach but during the vacations do not enjoy it as much as they would like because of all the tourists, here you will enjoy peace and tranquility, because it is not as crowded as many others.

There are restaurants in front of the coast, perfect for a drink while the little ones play on the white sandy beach. And since the water is also usually very warm, you won’t want to stop swimming and cooling off.

Celestun Playa Rosa

More than a beach, the pink lake or pink lagoons of Celestun have a characteristic color reminiscent of another tourist destination: the coloradas. These ponds are perfect for flamingos, which make for a photo-worthy contrast. This is one of the most frequented places by tourists, who want to see this natural wonder and even contemplate the work of the locals collecting salt by hand.
