Copper Canyon
The Chepe train experience is well known by many, a plan that is booked at all times of the year and where the whole family will have a great time. One of its great attractions is that you can visit different important points of Mexico in a very short time. Are you up for it?
History of the site
The Copper Canyon is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental, specifically in the state of Chihuahua. These are a set of 7 canyons or 20 canyons that are often compared in size to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The most important canyons are Urique, Batopilas, La Sinforosa or Candameña, among others.
This National Park has about thousands of kilometers full of vegetation where a multitude of species live. Today it is also home to the Tarahumara, an indigenous tribe that subsists on their own crops, fruits and animals. They maintain their cultural and spiritual values in the midst of nature.
The famous Chepe train
The Chepe train or Chihuahua Pacific train took 90 years to build. Since its inauguration in 1961, it has been a great way to link the Pacific Ocean with Chihuahua and a great tourist attraction. Depending on the experience you choose, you will go over more or less bridges and tunnels, while admiring breathtaking mountain views.

- Tour in Creel
There are several popular tours related to the Chepe, but it is up to you to decide which ones you want to book. Among several excursion ideas we propose is the tour to the Menomite community, a place inhabited by a religious group.
They follow the traditions and customs that were born centuries ago in Zurich, but which they brought with them after their immigration in 1922. There you will see the museum that explains their long history, as well as how they live and what this religious community does.
Continuing with the Arakero Lake tour, a wonderful nature excursion that will completely revitalize you. Close to other stops along the Chepe route, it is advisable to see the entire area.
You can approach the tour of Chihuahua in many different ways, but all of them will give you a glimpse of the Chihuahua spirit at a glance. Visit the most important buildings of the city, eat in its restaurants or continue discovering more natural areas.
A tour of Creel is perfect for those who want to continue enjoying natural surroundings. For example, you can visit the Baseachi or Cusárare waterfalls. If after your visit to these waterfalls you feel like visiting more impressive waterfalls in Mexico, you can visit Cola de Caballo in Monterrey.
