Getting to know Toluca
The tourist destination that unites culture, nature and gastronomy for all those who want a very complete vacation, are you up for it?
The municipality mostly known as Toluca is a city in the State of Mexico. It is located in the central area and is currently the capital of the country.
Toluca de Lerdo
Although its full name is not usually used to refer to this city, it is true that Toluca de Lerdo has acquired over the years more nomenclatures, such as Toluca la fría (Toluca the cold) or Toluca la bella (Toluca the beautiful). One of its great tourist attractions is the Nevado de Toluca.
For those who have not yet heard of this impressive volcano also called Xinantécatl, which is still active today, we recommend a visit. In the area you can take pleasant walks until you reach the two popular lagoons of bluish and greenish colors, the lagoon of the sun and the moon.
Leaving nature aside, we will also find a historic center full of colonial buildings or you can even delve even deeper into the past with the archaeological remains of Calixtlahuaca.
It is in the center of the capital that major events related to handicrafts are also held. Specifically, it is in CASART, the House of Crafts, where different professional artisans from all over the state come together to sell their works to the public.
La Marquesa, Toluca
Trails and hiking are the order of the day, as many want to disconnect from the big metropolis while observing nature up close.
Thanks to the Insurgente Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla National Park, popularly known as ”La Marquesa”, many tourists enjoy the views as well as learn about the history of the place.
Located 32 kilometers from the city, it has spectacular views, fauna and wild flora. Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day of the week.
Places to visit in Toluca
Toluca is considered one of the most culturally rich tourist destinations in the country, thanks, among other things, to its more than 80 museums. So if you are one of those travelers who want to soak up as much of the history of the destination you are traveling to, Toluca will make it easy for you to do so.
Ecotourism is increasingly sought after by travelers and in the municipality there are great places to practice it in different parks such as Sierra Morelos.
There are many people who decide to make the route from Puebla to Toluca de Lerdo, and we help them to know the different possibilities that exist. The first option is by own vehicle, a driving distance of about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
In second place we find the bus, which although it is slower, you will not have to worry about gas or driving. Lastly, we have the air route, which is the fastest but not always the most economical.
