The capital of Morelos : Cuernavaca
This colonial city is the capital of the state of Morelos, also nicknamed ”the city of eternal spring” thanks to its pleasant temperatures most months of the year.

Teopanzolco, Cuernavaca’s archaeological site
Of Nahuatl origin, Teopanzolco would mean ”in the old temple”. It is located in the Morelos Valley, in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood of Cuernavaca.
Thanks to the architectural remains it has been possible to discover that the buildings of the first settlement of settlers were destroyed in order to build on top of them. It is believed that the first inhabitants were the Tlahuicas and later the Mexicas occupied the territory.
The Chapultepec Park, Cuernavaca
This protected natural area is 3 kilometers from the center of the city of Cuernavaca, with an area of almost 13,000 hectares and open to the public since 1931.
In this natural park you can discover all its fauna and flora: it is the habitat of species such as the cangrejito barranqueño, the clock bird, the black iguana, the ahuehuete, the pochote, among others.

The colonial era buildings are located in the center of the city of Cuernavaca. Among them is the Palacio de Cortés where the National Museum of Cauhnáhuac is located.
The Palace of Cortés
Inside the Palace, in the 1930s, Diego Rivera painted a series of murals depicting the history of Mexico at the time of the conquest. These are entitled ”History of Morelos, Conquest and Revolution”. Not only can we admire Rivera’s paintings, but also those of the Spanish artist Salvador Tarazona.
Inaugurated in 1974, it is currently the Regional Museum of Cuahnáhuac and one of the most important buildings in Cuernavaca.
The Cathedral of Cuernavaca
Its construction began in 1525, and it is one of the oldest cathedrals in Mexico. It is composed of the atrium, the open chapel, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, the Chapel of Sorrows, the Chapel of Carmen, the Chapel of the Third Order and the Temple of Our Lady of Carmen.
Its architecture is typical Franciscan, and one can admire the humble, simple and austere aesthetics that are characteristic of Franciscan values.
