What to Do in Cancun (Part 2)
As we were telling you in a previous post titled What to Do in Cancun (Part 1) we want to help you on your vacation. If you are going to stay in Mexico, more specifically in Cancun and you still don’t have plans, we’ll help you with several ideas.
Get to know all the tourist possibilities offered by one of the territories with the most history you can find. After spending several days on the beach or by the pool, what better than to do some sightseeing?
What activities to do in Cancun?
- Get to know the different beaches of Cancun
- Visit internationally recognized restaurants and bars
- Go see the city center
- Dive in Isla Mujeres
- Rediscover the ruins of Tulum
- Bathe in a cenote
- Go on an excursion to the ruins of Chichen-Itza
- Stay in an all-inclusive hotel
Rediscover the ruins of Tulum
Despite being a little far from downtown Cancun (130 kilometers) the Mayan ruins of Tulum, is a great excursion both to learn about the history itself and to enjoy its Caribbean beaches.
During the tour of the Mayan archaeological zone, which in its language Tulum means ‘wall’, you will recognize the emblematic paintings and buildings that are in excellent state of conservation. Afterwards, we recommend bringing a bathing suit to swim and splash around.
Bathe in a Cenote in Cancun or Riviera Maya
What is a cenote you may ask yourself, well, these are ponds or natural freshwater wells. They are found in caves, also semi-covered or fully open.
The difference between them is their age, with the oldest being those that are uncovered and the youngest being those that are more difficult to access.
For those who want to experience one of the most beautiful adventures, whether taking photos for memories or diving for a while, we recommend several cenotes located in Cancun and Riviera Maya: Chac Mool Cenote, Tajma Ha Cenote, Jardin del Eden Cenote, or Aktun Chen Cenote. For those more experienced in the art of diving, Dos Ojos Cenote will not disappoint.
Excursion to the ruins of Chichen-Itza
Another plan we suggest to truly discover and get to know Mexico is to take an excursion to the ruins of Chichen-Itza. Visit one of the most historic archaeological sites.
Built between the 10th and 9th centuries A.D., this area full of history will make you want to learn more about its past. Its main attraction is the pre-Hispanic Kukulkan pyramid, which means ‘the castle.’ This structure was dedicated to Kukulkan, a feathered serpent.
Stay at an all-inclusive hotel in Cancun
Who hasn’t heard of the all-inclusive hotel experience? From the moment you book until you say goodbye to an amazing vacation, everything you need will be handled by Cancun’s famous all-inclusive hotels.
One of the best choices you can find are hotels from the Oasis hotel chain, such as The Pyramid At Grand Oasis or Grand Oasis Cancun.
