Chiapas, Palenque
The archaeological zone of Palenque is currently a World Heritage Site in Mexico. It is lost in the middle of the jungle, and was one of the most important cities of the Maya period, built between 600 and 900.
The territory is composed of a site museum, which will show you authentic treasures that have been found throughout the many investigations and explorations. There are also detailed explanations of the ancient inhabitants and much more.
Throughout the site you will be able to see the most important buildings of the Palenque site, such as the Great Plaza, the ball game or the group of buildings. It is only 7 kilometers from the city of Palenque. It can be visited every day of the week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Chiapa de Corzo
Another of the cities that make up Chiapas is Chiapa de Corzo, one of the oldest cities in the continent, which borders the Grijalva River. For those who do not want to miss the most characteristic, they will have to visit the Temple and Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzman.
And of course, another must is the archaeological site of Chiapa de Corzo, where you can get a close look at the most important Mayan remains that reside in this small place.
