To observe one of Mexico’s sea turtle sanctuaries you will have to focus your vacation in the territory of Xcacel-Xcacelito, in the state of Quintana Roo. There, varied adventures, paradisiacal tourist attractions and, in short, the best vacations on the beach await you.

Xcacel beach

You will have seen all kinds of beaches, but Xcacel beach is unique. Its almost transparent turquoise waters will let you see the depths at every step you take. It will also be its fine sand and long coasts that invite you to take long walks while the sun caresses your skin.

In addition, this territory is a sea turtle sanctuary. It is estimated that around 200,000 offspring of this animal are born on its coasts. It is the climate, fauna and flora that has allowed this long-lived oviparous bird to be the chosen place for years, in addition to the help of the citizens.

In order to visit, you have to be fully aware that the caretakers will ask you for help of all kinds, whether it is cleaning or various duties. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The entrance fee for Quintana Roo residents is 24 Mexican pesos, for national citizens it is 40 Mexican pesos and for foreign visitors it is 81 Mexican pesos.

During the months between May and November, activities near this beach are limited due to the sea turtle nesting season.

Xcacelito

In the Xcacel-Xcacelito natural protected area a lot of activities are promoted for all types of public. The most typical are the games on the shore, where sand and water will be the main protagonists of the imagination of the little ones.

In addition, there are activities to playfully learn about the flora and fauna of the place, essential to become aware while having a great time. Also, areas focused on bird watching and activities to care for, protect and clean the territory.

As it could not be otherwise, there is also room for exercise or sport, so if you bring your own surfboard, you will be the king of the waves of Xcacel beach.

Cenote Xcacelito

In addition, in this beach, it is totally forbidden to bathe in areas with red flag, as the strong waves are usually very dangerous for swimmers.

If you are lucky and can see it, you will have to make your way through the mangroves that protect it. This freshwater cenote is home to many inhabitants that will welcome you. It is also perfect for snorkeling, one of the most popular activities in Quintana Roo.

Paseos Xcacel

This area is a residential area of the Xcacel zone. It is here where many Quintana Roo residents decide to make their home and live in one of the best areas of the territory.
