Puebla, Chignahuapan

Another of the hundreds of magical towns in the Mexican geography is Chignahuapan. Its name comes from the Nahuatl language and means ”where water abounds”. During pre-Hispanic times it was inhabited by the Totonacs. It is currently part of the list of Magical Towns of Mexico since 2012.

Its popularity lies in the fantastic landscapes that the territory offers, as well as its hot springs, the lagoon and its religious buildings or places most frequented by its neighbors, such as the zocalo or the kiosk. It is also recommended to taste the typical local dishes such as lamb consommé or mole poblano.

Chignahuapan hot springs

Disconnecting from the daily routine and indulging yourself is possible in the hot springs just half an hour from Chignahuapan. These are located in the Hotel Aguas Termales de Chignahuapan, a complex with 65 rooms equipped with thermal water.

They also have exceptional services for guests such as public or VIP thermal water pools or the spa, which also has a children’s area.

If you do not want to stay at the hotel, no problem, you can access these services, which have different rates. For example, the hours to enjoy the thermal pools are from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., free for children.

The Chinahuapan Lagoon, Almoloya is another of the excursions we encourage you to do during your stay in the magical town. It is practically in the center of the territory, so it will be very easy for you and your acquaintances to visit it without any problems.

The main activities that take place in the place is fishing, although if you are not yet an expert or do not have the material to practice it, there is much more to do. Long walks are also one of the favorite plans for visitors, as well as admiring the fall of the Quetzalapán waterfall and disconnecting.
